Verizon Wireless Accidentally Releases Launch Date For Droid Incredible

It was supposed to be a secret when the Droid Incredible, Verizon’s new flagship phone, was supposed to be released. Now, everyone knows that on Thursday, April 29, customers can pre-order the Droid Incredible. A teaser web site on VerizonWireless.com accidentally went live earlier today but was quickly pulled. But now the cat has been let out of the bag.

Confirmed launch of Droid Incredible

Droid geeks have been reporting sightings of the Droid Incredible for some time. The anticipation has been unbearable creating gossip about rumors of the features and release in the blogosphere. But because of communication breakdown in the inner sanctum of Verizon Web development, we know it will be here April 29 when you can use your credit card to order the Droid Incredible.

Matchup Droid Incredible Google Nexus One

It appears that the Droid Incredible has about the same specs as the Google Nexus One, and Verizon users have been expecting it for a while. The Droid Incredible will have a 576 MB RAM/512MB ROM and 8GB of built in internal storage as well as a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor under the hood. It will also have the same 3.7-inch AMOLED display, with 480×800 pixels. Along with the Nexus One, the Droid Incredible will run Android 2.1.

Droid Incredible to help improve Android Platform

The biggest difference between the two devices will be that the Droid Incredible runs HTC’s revised Sense UI, according to Eric Zeman at Informationweek.com. Zeman said the newest version of Sense makes using the Android platform seamless and more a more enjoyable experience. Powerful screen switching tools and better social networking are provided with the HTC’s custom overlay. Before it was shut down, the Sense UI was confirmed in the screen shot posted by Verizon Wireless on the teaser site.

Droid Incredible and the point and shoot performance

Other Droid Incredible features revealed on the short-lived Verizon site include a hefty 8 megapixel camera with autofocus and flash, meaning the Droid Incredible could save you from getting a personal loan for a new digital camera. Other Droid Incredible goodies include GPS, digital compass, proximity sensor, light sensor, Bluetooth 2.1, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and a 3.5mm headset jack.

The Droid Incredible is the Droid Killer

It didn’t take long before Verizon password-protected the Droid Incredible teaser site. On it was the information regarding the April 29th date as well as a large picture of the Droid Incredible. Unless you were one of the few lucky people who caught Verizon with their pants down earlier, you are probably shut out now. You can expect the site to be revived before too long along with the advertising blitz urging you kill your Droid, get a cash advance, and order the Droid Incredible.
