Nexus One, The Name May Have Been Copied

Google Nexus had set up sensation even before it was released. Prior to its release, the discussion that Google was entering cell cell phone trade was something that didn’t go down properly with all. And just after introduction, the fact that Google Nexus turned out to be as expected and not a lot more than what Google devotees has predicted disappointed individuals. And now after days following the phone’s release, here is yet another problem – Nexus One’s copyright violation.

The name Nexus One is claimed to be copied from Philip K Dicks book ‘Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?’. The author’s daughter has gone to the press accusing Google of taking the name of the cell phone from her father’s book with out consulting them.

If the name is truly copied from the book or not is uncertain. Google definitely will deny the accusation. But the writer’s daughter seems to be unwilling to dissuade and not comply with Google. If the matter gets really serious, they could have to take the legal support. And if Google losses the case, a lump sum amount will have to be given towards the writer’s daughter (A lot could say, the situation is getting raised only to get hold of big money. Like Motorola had to pay to be able to use the name Droid). Google anyway these days is having difficulties from all sides – there is this Apple-Google conflict, Google is soon going to be from iPhone (Bing will be seen on iPhone), touch screen problem with Apple and what not. Looks like Google’s move into mobile phone market is causing a good deal of complications.

Sometime back Google was much like the King within the internet business (it even now tops) but with a lot of issues and dissapointments (with reference to Google Phone), tables may possibly turn really soon.

Let’s see how things go about and who wins.
